What is Acupuncture?
All treatments are performed on healing, infrared Japanese CRYSTAL BED.
Acupuncture facilitates optimal conditions for the body to repair itself and stimulates the body’s own natural self-healing mechanisms. It assists in activating the function of the organs, tissues and cells, increases the circulation of blood and improves general wellbeing.
As a component of Traditional Oriental Medicine, acupuncture is one of the most recognised and well established complementary medicine modalities. This holistic health care system dates back thousands of years offering a foundation of traditional wisdom, supported strongly by modern research and science.
Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles into points on the body that pertain to specific meridians. The stimulation of these points rebalances energy and encourages its harmonious flow throughout the body. While symptoms are addressed this holistic modality places importance on identifying and rectifying the cause or ‘root’ energetic imbalance, thus reducing the likelihood of symptom recurrence and providing preventative health care.

What can I expect?
Initial Consultation and Treatment (60 mins)
The initial consultation will involve investigation into the health concern outlined by you. Questions about physical and emotional health as well as diet and lifestyle will be included. Other important examinations in Oriental Medicine include examination of the pulse, abdomen, tongue and meridians; this allows for a truly holistic evaluation to be undertaken by the practitioner. Once the imbalance has been identified treatment will begin.
Treatment involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles into acupuncture points. Most people find this painless and once the needles are inserted enjoy a relaxing and therapeutic break from their day. The treatment is individually tailored to your condition and may involve other applications including moxibustion, heat, cupping or massage to enhance results. Lifestyle advice will be discussed and recommended to assist the healing process and to maintain balance.
Follow Up Treatment (60 mins)
Results of the previous treatment will be discussed and examination of the pulse and tongue will take place. Treatment will begin as it did in the initial consultation with adjustment made if required.
